AwareLink AL-HMI-101
AL-HMI-101 10.1″ IIoT operator terminal for the shop floor
Touchscreen HMI, isolated machine I/O and fingerprint operator sign-in in one metal-enclosed unit.
AL-HMI-101 is a machine-side terminal for production monitoring. It reads run, stop and count signals directly from the machine through isolated high-speed inputs, switches tower lamps, buzzers or relays through isolated outputs, and gives the operator a 10.1-inch touchscreen for orders, downtime reasons, scrap and maintenance requests.

1 One template is used per enrolled finger. Enrolling two fingers per operator gives capacity for 500 operators.
2 At the default 5 s reporting interval. Buffered data is sent in its original order when the connection is restored.
3 Depending on the controller, an additional connector or adapter may be required.
Typical applications
Built for production monitoring at the machine
Operators sign in by fingerprint, so each record carries the person and the shift. The terminal works with the AwareLink server and continues to work when the network does not.
- Production counting and machine-state monitoring
- Downtime and scrap recording with reason codes
- Operator-wise and shift-wise accountability
- Order and job tracking at the machine
- Breakdown reporting and maintenance requests
- Andon signalling with tower lamp and buzzer
Software functions
AwareLink terminal software, included with every unit
Operator sign-in
Fingerprint or PIN at the terminal. Production, downtime and scrap records are stamped with the signed-in operator.
Live machine dashboard
Machine state, speed or count and the running order, taken from the machine’s own signals and refreshed every 5 seconds.
Production and downtime records
Runs and stoppages are captured automatically. The operator assigns the order, the downtime reason and any scrap on the touchscreen.
Maintenance and tickets
Breakdown and preventive-maintenance states are shown on the terminal. Operators raise a ticket from the machine.
Works through network outages
Machine data and operator entries are stored on the unit and sent in order when the link returns. Sign-in keeps working offline.
Shift handling
Three configurable shifts. Operator sessions end automatically at shift change, with a countdown on screen.
Remote management
Signed over-the-air software updates, remote configuration, and health reports covering storage, temperature, load and uptime.
Alerts and announcements
Rule-based alerts and plant announcements from the AwareLink server are shown to the operator on the terminal.
Machine and PLC data. The terminal reads machine data directly from the PLC (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi; other makes on request) as well as from wired signals. Depending on the controller, an additional connector or adapter may be required.
Installation
Connections and commissioning
Screw terminals for power and machine signals, Wi-Fi (Ethernet optional) to the plant network.
Connections
| Connection | Terminals | Rating and use |
|---|---|---|
| Power supply | V+, V− | 9–30 V DC. Use a regulated 12 V or 24 V DC supply. |
| Digital inputs | DI1 … DI8, COM | High-speed, 5–36 V DC. COM to 0 V for PNP devices, COM to +V for NPN devices. |
| Digital outputs | DO1 … DO8, COM | Sinking, 5–40 V DC, 500 mA max. per channel. COM to the 0 V of the load supply. |
| Network | Wi-Fi / RJ45 | Wi-Fi to the plant network as standard. RJ45 Ethernet port on units ordered with the Ethernet option. |
Commissioning
- Mount and wire. Fix the terminal at the machine. Connect the DC supply and the machine signals.
- Connect. On first power-up a setup wizard asks for the network and a name for the terminal.
- Assign the machine. Select the machine this terminal reports for. Its signals appear on the dashboard.
- Enrol operators. Enrol fingerprints at the terminal, or send the operator list from the AwareLink server.
Installation notes
- All eight inputs share one common terminal. Wire the inputs of one unit either all as sourcing or all as sinking.
- Outputs are transistor outputs for DC loads, not relay contacts. Use an interposing relay for AC loads or for loads above 500 mA.
- Keep signal wiring apart from motor and power cables. Use shielded cable for long sensor runs.
- Fuse the DC supply line to the unit according to local wiring regulations.
- The terminal is not a safety device. Do not use its inputs or outputs for emergency-stop or safety interlock functions.
- Follow the terminal markings on the unit. They take precedence over the generic examples shown here.
